Weezer Powers Through Personal Crisis with Electric Coachella 2025 Set
Weezer took the stage at Coachella 2025 on Saturday, April 12, delivering a high-energy performance just days after bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren, was involved in a serious incident with law enforcement. Despite the emotional weight, the band remained focused on the music, treating fans to a 12-song set packed with alt-rock staples and a bold cover of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.” Watch the clip below.

Silence on Stage, Emotion in the Air
The performance followed a troubling event in Los Angeles, where Jillian Lauren was shot and taken into custody on April 8. Authorities reported she pointed a firearm at police during a search related to a hit-and-run investigation. She was hospitalized with minor injuries and later released on a $1 million bond.
Though the band made no direct reference to the incident during the show, frontman Rivers Cuomo took a moment to acknowledge the moment’s emotional intensity, telling the audience, “It feels so good to get out here with you guys and let out these emotions.”
What’s Next: Kilby Block Party 2025
The band’s festival calendar is far from over. Weezer is slated to headline the Kilby Block Party in Salt Lake City on Saturday, May 17, 2025. For this performance, they plan to play the Blue Album from start to finish—a rare treat for longtime fans. The festival’s roster also includes acts like St. Vincent, Toro y Moi, and Black Country, New Road.
