Mark Hoppus, co-founder and bassist of the legendary pop-punk band Blink-182, has announced his upcoming memoir, Fahrenheit-182, set to debut on April 8, 2025. Co-written with Dan Ozzi, author of Sellout, the book will offer a candid look at Hoppus’ life, blending his signature humor with personal insights into his career, life challenges, and his recent battle with cancer.

A Playful Yet Deep Dive Into Hoppus’ Life

Hoppus, known for his lighthearted personality, announced the memoir with a quirky, infomercial-style video, staying true to the cheeky tone Blink-182 fans know and love. The book promises to include stories of his skateboarding days, the 1990s music scene, the band’s breakups, and his 2021 cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The official description reveals a more personal side, stating, “This is a story of what happens when an angst-ridden kid who grew up in the desert experiences his parents’ bitter divorce, moves around the country, switches identities from dork to goth to skate punk, and eventually meets his best friend who just so happens to be his musical soulmate.” The memoir also explores Hoppus’ lifelong struggles with anxiety, intertwining his health journey with his larger life story.

Blink-182 Bandmates and Their Literary Pursuits

With Fahrenheit-182, Hoppus joins his Blink-182 bandmates in publishing. Travis Barker, the band’s drummer, released his memoir Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums in 2016, while Tom DeLonge, Blink’s guitarist, published his sci-fi novel Trinity earlier this year.

For Dan Ozzi, Fahrenheit-182 adds another significant project to his résumé. He previously collaborated with Laura Jane Grace, frontwoman of Against Me!, on her memoir Tranny, giving him strong credentials for helping musicians tell their stories.

Blink-182’s Resurgence and Expanded Album Release

The memoir announcement follows a flurry of activity for Blink-182, including the band’s reunion and the release of an expanded edition of their 2023 album One More Time…, which features the original lineup of Hoppus, Barker, and DeLonge.

An Honest and Entertaining Memoir

Blink-182 fans and readers looking for a mix of humor and vulnerability will find plenty to love in Fahrenheit-182. With Hoppus’ signature wit and sincerity, this memoir promises to be both entertaining and heartfelt—a compelling read for longtime fans and anyone facing life’s challenges with a sense of humor.
